Become a Volunteer

Parent Volunteers Are Welcome

Parents and members of the community are encouraged to become involved and volunteer at Morning Creek. Anyone working with students, in a classroom, must have a current, negative TB Test and Megan's Law Background Clearance Check on file in the office. The District no longer provides TB Testing - Please see your health provider.

For required forms and more information, visit the PUSD Volunteer Page

All volunteers should submit their completed PUSD forms, proof of vaccination for COVID and proof of negative tb test to Secretary Cindy Hawkinson at chawkinson@powayusd.com.  Volunteers will be advised when approved.  Until further notice, all volunteers must wear a mask at all times in the office and on campus.

Sign In & Out Procedures

All volunteers at each of our school sites are required to sign in at the office and put on a nametag. You must do this each day you volunteer. This helps us identify people on our campus and helps keep our kids safe.Thank you for remembering to do this!

Types of Opportunities

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Prepare materials for classroom use

  • Listen to children read

  • Play learning games

  • Assist students and direct traffic during student arrival

  • Assist in the library

  • Assist with motor skills development

  • Help students to complete math and reading assignments

  • Assist on field trips, classroom cooking, music, and science projects

Some of these activities may be paused during the pandemic.

To become a classroom volunteer, contact your child's teacher and let her/him know what your interests are.

Due to liability and safety concerns, we ask that volunteers not bring their toddlers/pre-schoolers with them when volunteering. This is for your children’s safety and it also maintains a quiet learning environment.

Field Trip Drivers

Many classes use parent volunteer drivers for class field trips. If you would like to be considered, you need the following:

  • Your car insurance policy needs to meet the district standards

  • Provide a copy of your insurance declarations

  • Provide a copy of your valid driver's license

  • Have a current TB test and Megan's Law clearance on file
